Our concept for the Sheffield Children’s Hospital app required us to design an experience that transports the user from a clinical treatment room and into a magical world.
We chose to go with a low poly blocky aesthetic for our worlds taking cues from popular children’s games like minecraft and work from Nintendo. There is a familiarity with this art style that children are drawn to and it also appeals to both older and younger children alike.
The characters include penguins, crabs, whales, fish, seagulls and an octopus which have been designed with playful movements and interaction. The characters populate the treatment room and patients can interact via screen based gestures in a sandboxed environment.
